The Association for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation was founded in 1992 as an international non-governmental non-profit organization. It was founded by various non-governmental institutions, politicians, political and social scientists from Russia, Europe and the United States.
Aims of the Association:

to organize debates on acute political, security, economic and cultural issues,

to promote cooperation and mutual understanding on various levels in order to enhance Euro-Atlantic security and stability,
-
to promote respect of human rights and democratic values.
Since 1993 the Association is an associated member of the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA) with the right to vote in all its decision making bodies.
Members of the Association believe that from the point of view of history, economy and culture Russia always was and will be part of the Great Europe. Isolationism would be a tragedy for Russia as well as for other nations of the Euro-Atlantic region.
Financial sources of the AEAC are: membership fees, grants and allowances provided by member organizations, individuals and partners for international projects.
Co-Presidents of the Association are: Mr. Anatoliy Adamishin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Mr. Willem van Eekelen, former Defence Minister of the Netherlands and Secretary General of the Western European Union, Senator.
The AEAC has branches in St. Petersburg, N. Novgorod, Ekaterinburg, Krasnodar and a group of activists in Voronezh.
The Youth section of the Association was founded in 1997 and includes students, post graduates, young journalists and scholars.
The Association maintains dynamic bilateral relations with its partners in Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Greece,the Netherlands, Luxemburg, Norway, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Ukraine and the USA.
Among main recent events, coordinated by the AEAC were:

meetings of experts within the framework of international monitoring of freedom of religions in Russia and other countries (Moscow, 1998 and London, 1999);

round table "Russia and Ukraine in Euro-Atlantic dimension" (Moscow, 1998);

international conference "Russia and European Union" (Moscow, 1999);

international seminar of high-level military and diplomatic experts on Euro-Atlantic security (Peace Palace, the Hague, 2000).
